Scotland
In May 2012 Matthew traveled to the Uk and Scotland with his family. He was lucky enough to be able to attend the Sexyloops Scottish Meet which was a gathering of Scottish, Canadian and European fly fisherman hosted by the websites founder Paul Arden. There were many hours spent casting , including the chance to have a cast with a spey rod. Matthew was then able to fish the local River Don, chasing Trout and Salmon. Unfortunately the Salmon he got on his line will forever be known as "the one that got away", but that has only wetted his appetite to go back again in the next couple of years. A great bunch of blokes , some fantastic casters and many new friends made.

Also in May 2012 whilst in the Uk Matthew finally got to fish the "Holy Grail" of chalk stream Fly Fishing - The River Test. Thanks to Steven Perkins , a guide with Orvis Fly fishing. This photo is of the Ginger Beer beat, where a day of "Gentlemans Fishing" caught them some great fish.
In July 2013 Matthew attended the CLA Gamefair at Ragley Hall. It was a great opportunity to meet up with some of the great Instructors in the UK and Matthew managed a third place in the UK Salmon Distance Casting Event.

Malaysia
In September 2012 Matthew traveled to Malaysia to participate in the inaugral Malaysian Fly Fishing Festival. Along with other FFF Masters Peter Hayes and Simon Zarifah, Matthew gave Casting demonstrations and ran casting workshops. The event was a huge success with fishermen and women attending from all over the world and many new friends and contacts were made. After the event there was an opportunity to fish a local lake for snakehead, a fantastic experience.
New zealand
In October 2012 Matthew traveled to New Zealand to instruct and test at a FFF certification event on the South Island, as part of his role as FFF Master. After the event he enjoyed 5 days fishing the rivers of the South Island with Carl Mc Neil and South Island guides Ian Cole and Steve Carey
